I am a passionate, diligent, hard-working person trying to improve the lives of those around me. Through my diverse background of experiences in healthcare, customer service, and volunteering I have learned to adapt quickly to change, constantly grow my skills while working efficiently by myself and with others. I love to serve others in my community and always look for ways to help. As a fluent Spanish speaker, I have been able to interpret for my fellow Latinos that can only Spanish so that they can receive proper health care. As an interpreter for patients at Volunteers in Medicine (a low-income medical clinic) I served as a friendly face and bridge between healthcare providers and patients. I care deeply about helping others and this led to my decision to major in Spanish and International Health, to have the health sciences and linguistic skills to improve the health of everyone. My major has equipped me with a unique approach to seeing health issues through the lens of the social factors and the barriers that marginalized people face in receiving appropriate healthcare. In the future, I want to become a great dentist and help remove pain from the lives of my patients, restore function so that they can live comfortably and create something beautiful to be shared with the world. I am driven to positively impact everyone around me and feel a deep responsibility to do the most that I can. I am currently looking for opportunities to gain experience in the dental world while preparing to apply to dental school.
